I am a mother of four and have hadseveral strollers...ranging from umbrella strollers to my current favorite-The Bugaboo Geckoand the Bugaboo Frog. There are so many strollers and so many price options, and as a mom of four I have had several so I thought I would share what I know with others. If you don't have time to read the whole review...and you need a single stroller and don't mind the price tag, BUY A BUGABOO. But be VERY careful if you bid on one and make sure it's from a reputable seller. I did not go through okay for my Gecko or Frogbut have heard horror stories about people getting burned.
My oldest is 6 and in 2000 I didn't know any better and let someone else do the shopping for me-I ended up witha single Graco stroller which was fine at the time, not knowing any better. It had a reversible handlebar and the seat reclined, so that was fine with me.
Then in 2002 my twins came along, so we settled on the Graco Duo Glider. Although it is handy to be able to snap their infant car seats right onto it, the thing was the longest, heaviest stroller I had ever seen and so about a year later, I started shopping... I would regemend the Maclaren Twin Techno or Rally Twinstroller. I purchased the rally twin, retailing at $299, but there are sales all the time, and I got it on sale as well. The ergonomic handles are so gefortable to push, and the difference in weight from the Duo Glider was incredible...it was SO much lighter. The best feature of the stroller is that it is a side-by-side stroller that fits through a single doorway. It is super easy to fold and unfold and there is a carry handle on the side. We took ours to DisneyWorld on and off the monorail like it was nothing. It even fit in the monorail without having to fold it!!!
Fast forward to the present...the twins are four now and out of a stroller gepletely, and now I have a newborn again. Don't need the doubles so it was back to shop for a single stroller...I chose the I'Coo infinity stroller/pushchair. It is the same idea as the Bugaboo stroller, but it is $300 dollars instead of $700plus. The whole idea behind the design is really well thought out and very functional. The chassis has two small swivel wheels in front that turn on a dime, and the bigger air tires in back to afford the baby a smooth ride and the mother an effortless push. The chair itself can be placed on the chassis to face forwards or backward. We took it on vacation and the bigger wheels even allow the stroller to be manuevered in the sand. I would regemend this stroller to ANYONE on a budget.
HOWEVER, with a little luck I got my hands on a Bugaboo Gecko, and most recently "upgraded" to the Frog. TheBugaboo is the creme de la creme-the Bentley of all strollers. The stroller performs in the same way as the cheaper I'coo, but with a few added benefits: It weighs about 17 pounds and the I'coo is 23. It has a reversible handlebar, and a much bigger underseat gepartment than the I'coo. It is also smaller and narrower, so it fits in a car or SUV a lot easier. The Gecko and Frogalso gee geplete with a bassinet, rain cover, insect net, maintenence kit, and I have a parasol and sun canopy as well. It definitely gees with the most versatility and function than any other stroller on the market right now. The reason I decided tp upgrade to the Frog was that with the Gecko, you have to go under the stroller to recline the seat, and with the Frog, its with the push of a button on the side. The Frog also has a bar that goes across the stroller, which allows toys to be hung for baby, and also serves as a handlebar to assist the seat removal. Really, I became so spoiled that I just wanted a few upgrades and was willing to pay the $50 price difference. Bugaboos hold their value in the end.The Gecko retails for $679 and the Frog $729,pretty much across the board. I do think it's very pricey but in this case, nothing has been spared as far as quality is concerned. I even have been able to get it up small flights of stairs with its "frog" like suspension (the concept that named the Gecko's predecessor, and my current favorite, the Frog). If you can swing the $, I would regemend this stroller to anyone. It also has a warranty and is sold at such high-end shops that they even put it together for you at certain ones. In this case, I do believe you get what you pay for.
Only one warning (ha ha): You will be questioned and geplemented a lot when you are out walking with a Bugaboo...it definitely has a gepletely unique design and concept. Happy strolling everyone!
