Specialized Mountain Bike Buying Equipment Guide

Specialized MountainBikeBuying Guide
In the world of Mountain Bikes, in my opinion one name reigns supreme - Specialized. They pioneered the use of lightweight materials in their mountain bikes as well as new technologies such as FSR and Brain. Their bikes rule - let's take a look at some of their popularmountain bike for 2005
Specialized Bike Technology Overview
S-works
If you want the best technology in a racing mountain bike, look for S-worksS-works is the name that Specialized applies to their highest end models and it indicates that Specialized's newest technologies are included in the bike. One of their coolest technologies is specialized fsr, which is an active suspensionsystem(meaning it does the pushing or pulling on the wheel vs. having the road push or pull you) that keeps your tires in touch with the road at all times.
Another one of Specialized technologies that are included in the S-works series of bikes is specialized brainshock technology. Basically, Brain is an advanced shock absorber that reacts only to bumps in the road, not to the pedaling action of the rider. this means that the bike will not start bouncing up and down as you pedal faster - a definitely advantage as you race.
New Specialized Mountain Bike Models
Specialized epic
This isa hot bike - top of the line for Specialized. The front triangle is made from carbon fiber so that you save weight. There are other weight savers here as well - carbon main links, magnesium shock extensions, titanium brake bosses and sealed cartridge bearing pivots - all designed to save additional weight and make this bike tough. Regardless of the terrain, this is the racing bike to have.
Specialized Stumpjumper
This bike is designed for weight - it's the lightest hardtail bike that Specialized has ever made. It's made out of carbon again so you know it's not going to weigh a thing - in fact the Stumpjumper FSR version of this bike has a full carbon frame (but is not a hardtail bike) and is top of the line along with the Specialized epic.
Specialized FSR XC- The FSR XC is best described as the sibling of the Stumpjumper FSR. It's frame is made out of aluminum vs. carbon fiber, so it's going to be a little heavier than the epic or stumpjumper FSR. However, it's more affordable than both the epic
