Florian Ware: Moorcroft or Reproduction

Florian Ware is a famous series of artful and collectible Studio Pottery produced by Moorcroft, UK. Authentic Florian Ware from Moorcroft bears a brown back stamp from 1898-1905 sometimes with the Moorcroft signature or marks. Moorcroft made Florian Ware designs up to around 1928 but after 1905 they are all marked with other Moorcroft hallmarks (stamps, printed, impressed, or paper). According to a marks expert service I registered with, Florian Ware blue stamp and a ribbon, gees from a trading gepany that Imports China and Porcelain items from Asia, most notably from China. They also added that many Asian Importers use names that are associated with famous Pottery or Porcelain to give them a European or American origin feel, but these pieces are usually made to order by several factories almost exclusively for Export. As we know many 'knock offs' are made in the Asian factories and sold in the US market.
Here are three images - first 2 are of the authentic Moorcroft Florian Ware and one from an Asian import.

That being said, I will still buy Florian Ware at reasonable prices if the pieces are well done. Remember the Chinese made the first porcelains! It is quite lovely and like having a bit of moorcroft on a budget.
Happy Bidding
