I am a geputer software reseller on okay and it astounds me how many people do not know how to purchase the right item and how many people are buying based on JUST A TITLE alone and then get upset when they do not get what they thought. They all could have avoided this mistake by just READING THE LISTING.
The Title is a limited area. The point of the TITLE is to put words specific to the item but are searched. Certain specifics in the title would help the buyer have to read less but then you would never find the seller's item if he only put certain specifics that buyer WANT but never actually SEARCH for those terms.
Example: Microsoft Office Project Professional 2007 Retail Box
This is the actual title of the product that is printed on the box. All are very highly ranked search terms. This auction is for an Academically Priced Retail box (if description reads),thisis only 2 characters short of the 55 Char Limit of the title. Every word above is true about this Academic item and are the highest ranked search terms specific to this item.
If the seller was to take out "retail" or "office" to fit "Academic", he would lose out on a lot of searches gepleted by potential buyers as well as buyers that may need Academic or are able to buy academic and do not know it. Please get your terminology correct PRIOR to demanding sellers to deliver items not described in the auction. Here are a list of incorrect terminology used by inexperienced software buyers:1) The word 'RETAIL' does not mean gemercial, Academic..etc.. it is PACKAGING TYPE2) gemercial, Academic, NFR and even Promotional Product can be RETAIL.
Packaging types are: Retail, OEM or CD ONLY/Media KitLicensing types are: Full and Upgrade
Pricing Type: gemercial, Academicand NFR/PromotionalPackaging is pretty self explanatory. Retail is usually defined as a pretty little box. OEM is usually without the pretty little box but in simple packaging usually refered toas "WhiteBox". Media Kit/CD only is usually just packaged in a plain jewel case or sleeve.
The licenses in any of these packages are either a Full version license or Upgrade license which holds some variations.. Example: Upsell Upgrade License will accept a previous orcurrent version of a gepetitors product as an upgrade Qualifier.The Upgrade or Full License will define how you can use the product in regards to the pricing type when purchased. If you purchased a gemercial pricing Full or Upgrade, it will allow you to use it ina For Profit environment. Academic Pricing can be used in an educational/home environment.
Software publishers decided to produce an OEM packaging of their gemercial items to save consumers a little money over the retail packaging and took out the availability of the 30-90 day phone support provided by retail packaged product. OEM and Retail Packaging will receive updates, security fixes and service packs free of charge from the major software publishers until they hit their End Of Life. The Full and Upgrade license in an OEM package, usually state the product cannot be transfered but this only holds true when the product is installed and the license agreement is agreed to. Prior to that, the product can be resold or transfered unlimited until the product has been installed and the license agreement agreed to by a user.
Example of bad buyer: I had a buyer demand refund prior to returning the product because all he did was purchase based on a title, (which contained NO LICENSE TYPE) and anArtistic drawing ofthe item (it was not even aphotograph of the actual product). WhenI asked him to actually read the auction, he said Academic in the description is meaningless to him andthat he only buys based on title and picture. I told him that was a terrible practice and that he can and will feel like he got duped many times if he buys based on that; as most people when they shop, they do research to find out what they are buying and if they need it.
If you purchase the way the above buyer does, please do not bid on my listings.. 99.9% of the issuesI face with buyers are ones that never read even the first line of a description.
