Let me start by saying that Movados are not that attractive to imitate, since their sale prices are in the low end of the price scale for the originals. I have found that most replica makerswill more likely spend their time faking watches that sell at least in the thousands and usually in the tens of thousands, i.e., Rolex, Tag, Patek Phillipe, Cartier
That does not mean that there are not fake Movado watches available, or replica'sof lower-end watches (I have actually seen Seiko knock offs).
I suggest you purchase from a reputable seller and it seems remotely Movado-quality, you're probably ok.
Fake Movados have a few telltale signs. They tend to put cabochons on the crowns, on such models as the sports they tend to not have as fine refinement with the bracelets such as the space between the links OR even with the indents not being as fine.
All you need to do is take a look at some authentic Movado's in a reputable jewelry store and you willbe able to spot a fake Movado a mile away.
Just remember to pay by credit card or paypal for buyer protection.
