How to choose the right blade style
If you want to carry around the 10 blade trapper pictured above you'd havethe perfectblade for every situation. You'd also have one blade tolop off eachfinger because there are no blade locks. Having a different knife blade for each situation isn't necessary or even practical. Most people have one or two blade styles that they adapt tomost uses. Having the bases covered with a couple of trusted favorites, you can buy a knife with a specific blade that is best suited for a particular task, profession or hobby. This guide on how to choose the right blade style is one in a series of guides, each focusing in detail on one aspect of a knife. Feel free to bookmark this page for future reference and don't forget to vote if you thought it was helpful.
The first thing you may want to ask yourself is, "Self, what the heck does 1stopsurplus.web know about knives, besides the fact that theyve got a lot for sale?" Well, I worked in a sporting goods store for quite some time and after a couple years of studying manufacturers specs, researching online, talking with customers and playing with every knife in the case I became affectionately known in the department as, "The Knife Guru". If anyone had a question about a knife they couldnt answer, they came to me. Now that Ive got the horn tooting done lets get on with the guide.
Below is a list of gemon blade styles and their intended uses. This information should help you choose the proper blade stylebased onwhat you use the knife for most. Have questions? Ask The Knife Guru by sending me a message through okay.
1. Chisel Point - Like a droppoint with the end chopped off and sharpened. Used for digging or prying. Found in some dive knives.
2.Clip Point - Along with droppoint, probably the most gemon blade style today. The sharp point is effective for detail work, but is not as strong as a thicker blade.
3. Coping - Featuresa narrow blade with a sharp, angular pointdesigned to be used for cutting in tight spots or curved patterns, much as you would with a coping saw, only without the teeth.
4. Dagger - Similar in design to a spearpoint blade, but with both edges sharpened. Created for one reason and one reason alone, as a weapon.
5. Drop Point - This blade has a gentle, sloping convex curve to the point without the concave curve of the clip blade. Its thicker point is stronger for heavier tasks. The thicker tip is a positive for abuse but a negative for easy penetration. A good choice for a skinning blade where you don't want to poke a hole through the hide.
6. Guthook - An excellent choice for skinning large game. If you've never used a guthook before, now is the time to try. It's like using a zipper to open up the hide. No more running your fingers along side the blade hoping you don't slice the innards. Hook can easily be sharpened using a serrated blade sharpener.
7. Hawkbill - Has a concave curved edgewhich providesadvantages in a push cutting motion. This type of blade is used for things like carpet knives or scoring blades.
8. Modified Tanto - Blade has a curved edge as opposed to a straight one of the standard tanto. Tip also is more pointed and not quite as strong.
9. Pen or Spearpoint - Spearpoints are more popular in Europe, while in America, the clippoint is the preferred option. Pen blades are usually on pocket knives as a handy, all purpose blade. It was originally developed to trim quill pens, and that name has stuck through the centuries.
10. Serrated - Makes easy work of tough stuff a smooth blade can't handle without several extra strokes and dulling to the blade. Some people avoid serrated blades thinking they will never be able to sharpen them. Manufacturers do make specific sharpeners for serrated blades now, but you don't have to sharpen them very often. If shopping for a fixed blade, a nice option is a blade with serrations on top so you get the ruggedness without taking up blade length.
11. Sheepsfoot - Got its name from the shape of the point resembling the hoof of a sheep. With its distinctive flat, straight-line cutting edge and rounded point it's well suited to giving you a clean cut, especially on a flat cutting surface.
12. Spey - As the name suggests, this blade was originally developed to neuter farm animals. The rather blunt point avoids poking through a surface by accident, and the overall configuration makes the speywell suited forsweeping knife strokes such as when skinning.
13. Tanto -A traditional Japanese design dating back to feudal Japan. The angled grind from the edge to the tip is much heavier and stronger than other blade styles. It is used for piercing hard or tough materials and for prying or scraping. Found on many tactical knives of today.

Making Money with Lease Options and Straight Options
Lets look at a couple of ways to make money using options. You will
encounter seller situations where, if you know how, you can solve the
sellers problems and make good money yourself. It may be a strait
option to purchase, a sandwich lease-option strategy, or an assignment
of an option. There are pros and cons to all of them.
You may find yourself creating a hybrid strategy gebining the best of
a buy and hold strategy with a lease option exit strategy on the sale
of the property. This is a great way to control risk factors and
maximize your return on investment (ROI). Weve discussed some of
the reasons it makes sense to structure a lease-purchase transaction,
now lets review an example. The following example from my portfolio
illustrates how you can create multiple paydays using this buying
strategy.
Example: House on Twin Loop How I Found the Property:
A seller responded to my yellow page ad that stated
that I bought houses. I gave him a FREE report, which educated him on
how I could help him.
Motivation for Selling - Find Out The Why The
husband had a job transfer 150 miles away and they had already
purchased another house. The Realtor had been by and told them they
needed to spend $5,000 to fix it up before they could sell it because
the basement was not 100 percent gepleted. It was a nice house in a
good area. Solve the sellers problem.
I told them I would be willing to lease the house for 1 year, for $600
per month, as long as I had at least a one-year extension. Their
underlying payment was $750 a month. I told them that in order for me
to lease it, I would need them to subsidize the payment at least
$150/month, so I could make a profit.
Pay-Day #1: Monthly Payment Spread
You may ask why would they ever do that? Well, there are lots of reasons:
1. They wanted to sell the house, not just rent it.
2. A Real Estate agent wouldnt make the payments while it was listed.
3. $150 a month payment is a whole lot easier than $750/mo.
4. They couldnt do 2 house payments.
I think it also important to say that they bought me. We developed
instant rapport, and they sensed that I knew what I was doing. They
knew that I could solve their problem. People will pay for specialized
knowledge. I found out the Why, meaning: Why they needed to sell,
then I solved their problem.
Within a few weeks, I had rented it out to a new buyer, and created a
monthly payment spread of a $200 that equaled $2,400 a year.
Payday #2: Front-End Option Consideration This is the difference
between the amount of option consideration that you pay the seller, and
the option consideration you charge the buyer to get into the deal. In
the above example, I only had to make the property payments they owed.
Since they were moving, that was $600 due in about 2 weeks.
I immediately began marketing the property as a Rent to Own. Within a
few weeks, I had found my buyer - a mortgage broker with a few dings on
his credit. He figured he would be able to buy in about a year or so,
and was willing to give me $5,000 as option consideration, and rent of
$800 a month. I had to take the option payments over time. $2,000
to get in; $500 in 30 days; plus $2,500 in 6 months. I said, Sure.
Lets get back to the sellers for a moment. I had determined that the
sellers were payment sensitive, and credit sensitive. That was why they
were willing to subsidize the payment. They were willing to basically
give me their house for their payoff, plus $5,000. That was the
equivalent of a purchase price of $85,000. This brings us to the third
form of cash flow.
Payday #3: Back-End Spread What I mean by Back-end spread is the
difference between my contract purchase price ($85,000), and the price
that I had sold it to my new buyer ($115,000), less the option
consideration to be paid by the new buyer. The reason I call this the
back end is because the money is paid to you when your new buyer
exercises his offer to purchase. You basically earn the spread
between the two contracts. Before I recap this deal, I want to talk
about the buyer. I had sold the property to them for the option
consideration of $5,000, paid over time, plus monthly payments of $800.
You may ask why would he pay so much to get into a house that he wasnt
sure he wanted to buy? The fact is, most buyers in his situation will
do almost anything to buy.
He was a former homeowner. He knew his credit situation would not allow
him to get better then an 80 percent loan to value in the near future,
which meant he needed at least $20,000 to get a loan. He didnt
have it, and he had to wait at least a year to get his credit scores
up. Besides, when I explained that I would give him a monthly credit of
$250 towards the down payment, from his rent payment, it made it a sure
thing. The $250 is known as a rent credit. With a monthly rent of $800,
I gave him $250/month back, deducted off the option purchase price in
the form of a credit. Not bad, huh? Once the buyer realized that he was
basically only paying $550/month in rent, and $250/month towards the
purchase price, it was a slam-dunk. Structuring a lease/purchase for
the buyer this way helps mitigate any concerns they may have about
paying a little higher rent payment.
We all know that the bulk of a typical mortgage payment (99 percent or
more) during the first few years goes to interest. Only a very small
percentage goes to principle. I just show them an amortization chart
vs. a rent credit for a lease purchase, where or a 1/3 of the payment
goes to principle reduction. Its easy. Finding the buyers, if you have
the right properties, just isnt that hard.
Now, lets review....
PAYDAY #1:

Tableware History/Info: MIKASA CHINA/PORCELAIN OF JAPAN
Here is yet another installment of many guides that we, Replacements, LTD, will be posting to provide some interesting information on several manufacturer's of some the world's most collectible porcelain gepanies. This one will be about Royal Doulton of England, maker's of the several well known pattern's collections such as the famous lady figurines. We'll be highlighting a few of thesepatternsbelow.

In the early 1930's, Mikasa was established as an international trading gepany based in Secaucus, New Jersey. The gepany, while wholly American, looked to Japan for inspiration. Named in honor of Prince Mikasa, the youngest brother of Emperor Hirohito, Mikasa soon established itself as one of the most recognized Japanese brand names in the West.

Although Mikasa found success as an import-export trading gepany, a strategic decision was made to add ceramic dinnerware to the gepany's line of products in 1948. By doing this Mikasa discovered an untapped market that it was able to successfully grow. Importing merchandise produced by a network of over 150 manufacturers worldwide, the gepany itself never attempted to "manufacture" any of the dinnerware it sold. Rather, the Mikasa branded items were imported from Japan, Ireland, England, France, and Germany.

Business exploded in the 1950's, and tableware became the staple business for Mikasa. Customer requests were pouring in from all parts of the country, and department stores including Bloomingdale's and Macy's could not shelve enough stock to meet demand. Consumers found Mikasa ceramics to be very strong, versatile, and stylish.

By the beginning of the 1960's, Mikasa had established a reputation as "the pioneer of American casual." They refined their product range by introducing new patterns in unique groups known as "lines." For example, the Studio Nova line was produced for the "young-at-heart" casual diners who would likely eat their meals in the kitchen. Home Beautiful appealed to those who wanted durability and affordability. Last, but certainly not least, the Christopher Stuart line reflected the taste of the consumer who "wants a broad selection of styles."

The 1970's brought new retail store locations. Already firmly grounded in the United States, Mikasa expanded its operations to represent its very diverse lines. Showrooms and warehouses appeared in Canada, Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Expansion during this time was very easy for the gepany. They were able to predict consumer trends in tableware with great precision, and successfully execute on those forecasts. In addition, Mikasa had the gepetitive advantage that came from outsourcing. By not manufacturing product, it is able to contract with several factories at once, keeping costs down, and adding great diversity via an expanding number of lines and patterns.

In an effort to stay as gepetitive as possible during the 1980's, Mikasa added crystal stemware, stainless steel flatware and other household accessories to its product offerings. Having conquered the "oven-to-table" and the "dishwasher safe" market, Mikasa continued to look for new opportunities adding casual chic to fine bone china, and decorative accessories. Click here to see a list of all of the Mikasa china patterns carried by Replacements, Ltd. Today, Mikasa continues to leverage the momentum it has built over the decades since its start. In 2001, the gepany merged with J.G. Durand Industries, and as has been its history, will continue to trade under the name Mikasa.

Buy and Sell Wholesaling and Retailing for Big Profits
This is the technique that people are most familiar with. It is the buy
low - sell high strategy. It has a lot of names. Some people refer to
this as flipping
properties or "wholesaling and retailing. Another gemon term is the
"fixer-upper business or dealing in Junkers. It is a popular way to
invest because it is easy for people to understand and many have some
experience with their own homes, families, and friends.
The premise is simple in theory. Buy a property at a discounted,
distressed price (low), and then resell the property to an end user or
buyer for a greater price to make a profit. You can sell to another
investor (wholesale), or an owner occupant (retail) for more than you
paid. Just don't forget to include all of your costs, for example:
purchase costs, remodel/fix up expenses, interest, holding, resale
costs, etc. all factored in to determine your profit. If you sold it
for more, you make money and smile all the way to the bank. This
section will give you some of the essential tools necessary to make
money not only in this strategy, but in the others as well. Even if you
plan to focus on the other strategies, we regemend you read through
this guide to understand the principles of buying wholesale. I will
conclude with some real-life examples, both good and bad, so you can
better determine if this type of investment strategy is for you.
Depending on the condition of the property you purchase, it may or may
not need work to resell. There are several tracks that you can run on
with this strategy. The principles we discuss hold true for all types
of properties, single-family homes, condominiums, fourplexes, apartment
buildings, and even gemercial property. Finding the type of deals that
work for you, in your given situation, is critical. In other words, you
shouldn't plan on a major fixer-upper that needs a ton of work if you
need to turn it in 30 days to a retail home buyer, unless you know what
you are doing. I know many part-time investors who have made a ton of
money wholesaling and retailing just a few deals each year. I also know
of others that do 20 deals or more in a month. Neither option is
better. The direction you chose largely depends on your goals.
As we discuss some of the examples in this guide, you will notice that
they include lease options, seller financing, and selling paper. This
happens because as investors begee more familiar with the business,
they often gebine strategies to achieve the desired result. What
clearly starts out as a quick flip to another investor for an
assignment fee evolves into a lease-option. This happens because of the
moving variables involved in doing a deal. The buy/sell process is
somewhat fluid and staying open to options in a deal may greatly
enhance your profit potential. For this reason it is important to
realize that you are just beginning your education process in creative
real estate. If you do it right, you will always be learningas we are.
We also make mistakes. We simply move on, and in the end hope to win
more than lose. If you adopt a similar mindset, you
too will be open to more opportunities as they present
themselves. Lets talk about wholesaling and retailing in more
detail.
BUY WHOLESALE, OR DON'T BUY! There are two main aspects to real estate
wholesaling, price and speed. Since you make your money in real estate
when you buy, much of this section focuses on how to buy right. If you
buy right, you can choose your exit strategy, wholesale or retail. In
addition to the price, you really want the property sold as soon as you
buy it. The key to the whole process is to minimize your holding costs
and financing requirements. You do that by moving the property quickly,
hence the term 'flipping.' In buying properties wholesale, in most
markets, you should try to purchase at least 25-40 percent below retail
market value. This discount will vary greatly depending on if you are
in a sellers or a buyers market. Really hot, fast moving markets are
tough to get steep discounts. You can still find deals, but they move
quickly. If you make the right wholesale purchase, you should be able
to resale it immediately in a matter of days. Your objective in buying
property wholesale is to buy it at a steep discount and then quickly
turn it to another discount buyer at a wholesale price giving them room
to make some money. Typically you sell at 15-25 percent under retail,
more if the market is slow. You may earn a finders fee or
assignment fee of anywhere from a few thousand dollars to tens of
thousands, depending on the type of deal. (See the case study later in
this guide.) In order to buy a property wholesale you must have several
things working for you:
1. A motivated seller
2. The ability to close the deal now
3. Knowledge of current values
4. Networking to find the deals
For those more traditionally minded, networking is a very powerful and
effective tool. You can work through real estate agents, brokers,
friends, friends of friends, anyone who will listen to you. The more
people who know that you will buy properties, the more opportunities
that will gee to you.
If you successfully purchase a home at wholesale, ask them if they know
anyone else who is trying to or wants to sell a property. When you find
a good buyer, ask them if they know others in the market, or if they
know other properties for sale. Ask, ask, ask. The more you ask, the
more leads you will build, both buyers and sellers. This process is
crucial to your long-term success as an investor. There are many ways
to find the deals you want, but there is no such thing as a 'best' way.
If you focus only on one avenue of networking, you will be missing many
other opportunities. They key is to network wherever you are. Never
turn off your prospecting machine. Smart investors know they can always
wholesale good deals, even if they are currently out of the market.
Here are some other ideas to find buyers and sellers:
Real Estate Investor's Clubs While part of the meeting may be dedicated to
the speaker, the rest of it should be spent net-working. Get to know
others that share your interests. If they hear of a deal and are not
ready to move on it, they may let you know about it (be sure to return
the favor).

better determine if this type of investment strategy is for you.
If they hear of a deal and are not
ready to move on it, they may let you know about it (be sure to return
the favor).
Hockey Tape Buyers Guide
I have been playing hockey at a high level for a little over 15 years and I know about hockey tape. Let's face it, there are many kinds of tape out there and sometimes it can be hard to choose. I will give you a description of each kind. After that, I'll give you some tips for taping. There are four main kinds of hockey tape...they consist of friction, white cloth, black cloth, and clear (poly).
WHY USE HOCKEY TAPE? because it protects the blade of your stick from moisture-which can weaken your blade. Besides protection, tape cushions your blade giving you a better feel of the puck.
WHITE AND BLACK CLOTH: These types of tape are made out of the same materials and only differ by color. White and Black are the most gemon type of tape used on the ice. This tape has a very good resistance to moisture. Which makes it ideal for use on the blade of your stick. White and black are also used at the butt of your stick for better grip. There is an ongoing debate on what tape is better to use on your blade. There are many reasons to use each. White tape allows you to better see the puck on our stick. Black tape blends in with puck giving the tape a disguise. ALL goalies use white tape on their blades. This is so they can see the puck when it's on their stick.
FRICTION: Friction is black tape that is sticky on both sides. Players who use friction tape are looking for a different feel of the puck. Also, friction tape resists moisture better than any other tape.
CLEAR (POLY): Clear tape is strickly used for taping legs or knee pads. Most players tape over there socks to get a tighter fit. Clear tape is ideal for taping your knee pads because of its ability to stretch. It also has extremely strong adhesives.
HOW TO TAPE A STICK: The majority of players start from the heel of their stick and tape to the toe, leaving about 2 inches between the tip of the blade and the tape.
TAPING THE BUTT-END: When applying tape to the butt-end of your stick, leave just enough tape to leave you with a good grip. Your upper-hand is the hand which controls your stickhandling-you need that hand to move freely. Having a big knob only makes things worse. GOALIES: Ignore what I just said! You NEED a big knob on your stick.
IMPORTANT!!!! when taping the the butt of your stick do not use friction-it will destroy your palm of your glove and leave it sticky.

Step #1 Finding Sellers (Building your seller list)
Finding Sellers:
Finding interested sellers is often the most daunting step of the
entire process (the first step usually is). It takes persistence and a
willingness to get out and talk to people. Since your ultimate goal is
to make money, you want to find the motivated sellers, the good deals,
the discounted opportunities. Some possible sources are:
Bank foreclosures
Bank REOs
Delinquent tax sales
Probate and estate sales
IRS sales
VA repossessions
FDIC sales
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
For Sale by Owner listings
Real Estate agents
Internet listings
Finding sellers through these sources can take a lot of leg work and a
willingness to talk to lots of people. If you have the time and are
interested in pursuing any of these avenues, start with your
local banks, county recorder offices, and real estate
professionals. Also, keep an eye on your local newspaper, both legal
notices and classifieds. As you begin networking with more people, you
will begin finding more opportunities. There are whole courses taught
on prospecting methods and strategies, check out my other guides that
talk about this in detail. However, the best way to really learn is to
jump in and get started. As you do, it takes time to build up your lead
sources, so be prepared to be patient and persistent.
Of all the lead sources consider this: What you are looking for is
motivation. Anything that denotes motivation makes the seller a better
potential investment. Most sellers don't carry a sign around their neck
that says motivated seller so you have to learn to be an investigator.
Find out the reasons why they are selling. Many people say they just
want to sell but that is seldom ever the case find out why.
Once you find out why put yourself in their shoes and think what do
they really need to acgeplish by selling their property? Once you get
down to what the seller really needs then that is the best way to
adress the offer.

Build A Perfect Tone - Playing The Saxophone
I have played the saxophone for more than 40 years. One gepliment that I have received consistently over the years is how true and perfect my "tone" has been. For that reason, I would like to pass on the following suggestions to those who are perfecting their craft.
First, it is all about resistance
1. Visualize the wind. I mean, project your breath flowing through the mouthpiece, through the neck, down the base, and out from the bell. When practicing, place an object directly in front of the horn. (the music sheet on the stand will work) Nowimagine the wind of your breath touching the object in front of you.
Warm up practice
2. Start your practice with repetitions of whole notes. Start with holdinglow Bb continuously for at least 2 or 3 measures at a time. Project each note to the object in front of you and imagine your breath actually touching the object. Repeat this process for each note (be sure to include the sharps and flats); proceeding all the way up the scale. Continue for about 30 minutes.
Add more resistance.
Place a rag into the bell of the saxophone and repeat the same process. You will notice that the lowest notes will not play but go through the procedure anyway.
Work your way up the scale as indicated above.
Now begin your normal practice.
Follow this process daily and email me after 3 months and let me know what you think. Watch the improvement in your tone.

What fossils are good to buy
The old saying, Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder gees to mind here. A couple years ago I won an auction for a piece of ulna, larger forearm bone, of possibly a T. rex. It didn't mater to me if it was a T. rex or not, the fact that it was theropod was cool enough for me. It showed the structural framework so like that in birds today. I was tickled pink as it were. This is what a fossil should do for you. Make you excited and wanting to investigate each and every nook and cranny it will show you. If a piece of tooth is what you like, go for it. I like the broken bone sections because I also make thin sections of them, a slice of the fossil so thin light shines through which has been glued to a microscope slide for study.
How to tune a 6 or 12 string electric guitar
The absolute easiest way to tune an electric guitar is with an inexpensive electronic tuner. Coincidentally we just happen to sell theworlds best selling guitar tunerin our okay store for well under $20.00 including delivery, batteries and one year warranty!
For a vast majority of guitar players the Korg GA-30 guitar tuneris the only guitar tuner you will ever need. To use just plug the cord that normally goes from your guitar to your amp directly into the Korg GA-30 guitar tuner. Press the button to select the name of the note you want to tune and use the LED lights andmovingneedle displayto dial in the string tension.
To properly tune a guitar it is important to tune to the target note in a sharp direction. That is if your target note is "A" and when you pluck your string you notice that it is sharper than your target "A" then turn the tuning peg to a pitch flatter than "A" and slowly tune up to "A" if you pass "A" then repeat the process. Always tune up to the desired note.
If you also have an acoustic guitar in your collection the Korg GA-30 guitar tunereven has a built in microphone to accurately tune your 6 or 12 string acoustic guitar.
The correct notes for your6 or 12 string guitarare (starting from the bottom string, the one closest to the floor when you are playing) E, B, G, D, A and E. Thelast E is an octave lower then the first E. For 12 strings guitars use EE, BB, Gg, Dd, Aa and Ee where the lower case notes are an octave higher the the upper case notes.
Thanks for reading!

Improve your walleye fishing in 5 steps
Walleye fishing is to me is a art form , ITs waymore than just casting a hook into a lake or river.
These selective fish are light sensitive and very sensitive to water temperatures. Makes them challenging to catch all the time.
So if you like to fish walleye i must assume you been around the lake a few timesand are aold hand at it. Well i have been fishing for many years and walleyeis oneof my favorite sport and eating fish i fish for.
Heres a few tips and tricks i use when im out on the water that may improve your chances when your after ole White eyes.
1: Take a glance at the weather channel before you plan a trip make sure its not a mid summer hot sunny day unless your fishing in 20ft plus water. If you do land into walleye and get em in the boatthrow out that anchor or take note where you got the bite. Cause your in the walleye zone you will be able to land a few more in that area. They like to hang outin groups.
2: Never forget to buy bait like a tub of minnows, worms, leeches they may just make your fishing trip asucess.Ask the bait dealer nicely so whats hot today for bait and slip him a tip :) Cause next your in that store you wont have to ask .
3: Start off small because a not hungry summerwalleye that doesnt want to digest a huge bait might grab the smaller presentations first. My oppion a lindy rig tipped with a minnow or night crawler is a deadly gebo in most lakes around Canada.
4: General colors i like using for walleye are Yellow ,Chartruese green to white rubber grubs to black jig tails if the lake is full of weeds and leeches.
5: For Rivers, well the Bait is amustand if thats not working well, it might be the time of day or season I preferfallfor river fishing Walleye. For Casting in rivers for walleye the trusty and some times rusty old Len thomson five of diamonds is never outcasted in my tackle box. Or the hot and tot brass or sliver rapala lands them well around a mouth of creek that flows into the river.
I tried someing up a few tactics for Canadian walleye that work for me Whats your favorite?

What is Yom Kippur?
Yom Kippur is theDay of Atonement
The holiest day in the Jewish New Year --
Yom Kippur (pronounced either"yahm-KIPP-er" or "YOME-kee-POOR", depending on regional accents) is a time of serious reflection and repentance, the most solemnday on the Jewish calendar. It's a 25-hour fastthat always falls on the 10th day of Tishri, which is usually in September on the secular calendar. In fact, many secular calendars now have Yom Kippurmarked. But be aware that this holy day, like the Sabbath, begins on the night before the calendar date! Why? Because in Genesis it says "there was evening and there was morning..." "Evening" is mentioned first, so Jewishdays begin at sundown.
Yom Kippur ends a10-day period of repentance and reflection known as the Ten Days of Repentance, the High Holy Days, or Yomim Noraim (Days of Awe), which began with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.(Read my Guide on Rosh Hashanah.) During this ten-day period, Jews try to make amends to people they might have offended, make resolutions to change their own lives for the better, pay off old debts, and generally make amends for any wrong doings.
Traditional greeting
The traditional greeting for Yom Kippur is "May you be sealed for a good new year." On Rosh Hashanah,God opens the Book of Life, takes a look at all our deeds recorded there, and determines who shall live and who shall die in the geing year. But the decree is not finalized or "sealed" until the end of the day on Yom Kippur. This leaves room during the Ten Days of Repentance for people to make amends, change their behavior, and "avert the evil decree."
Fasting and other self-denials on this day
The biblical gemandment for Jews to observe Yom Kippuris found in Leviticus:
"The Lord spoke to Moses saying '...the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. It shall be a holy gathering for you, and you shall afflict your souls... You shall do not work throughout that day; for it is a day of atonement..." (Leviticus 23:26-32)
To "afflict your soul" means to fast and repent. There are five things that it is forbidden to do on Yom Kippur:
no eating or drinking

USA Dinnerware and Pottery
It was very surprising to learn that prior to the 1970's, most dinnerware and pottery usedin the U.S. was made in the Central Ohio Valley or Southern California. Today, nearly all is imported. This is why we became part of a growing number of people interested in "Vintage USA" made dinnerware and pottery. We have recently observed some high prices on dinnerware, and art pottery pieces made in the 1960s
Fake VS Authentic Citizens of Humanity
I just read the How To Spot Fake Citizens Buying Guide. I purchased my only pair of Citizens at Bloomingdales. Both things the guide says describing FAKE jeans, my jeans have. (Mine have an "h" on the inside of the button and the red tag is bumpy.) I doubt Bloomingdales would be selling FAKE merchandise.
TMX Elmo-Potential home wrecker!
If you are planning to buy a TMX Elmo, I have a warning for you.
Elmo is creating havoc in my home, between my 2 year old daughter and my 7 year old son. My daughter doesn't understand the full idea behind the TMX Elmo and wants to continually pick him up and hug him. She sees Elmo as a realistic, talking little ball of red fur that moves and laughs. Fully understandable at her age and I did buy him for her.
My 7 year old son, on the other hand, knows Elmo should be able to perform his act and be left on the floor. He is constantly wanting my daughter to put him down and leave him to do his thing. It is frustrating to him when he can't watch it do it's thing, although he traded in Elmo years ago for bigger boy toys, he is extremely facinated with what Elmo does.
Had I have known what a hit he would be with both my kids, I would have bought 2 or NONE! Just a warning to you all. He can be a bit of a stress magnet between siblings and parents too.
Elmo is great, but consider this warning if you have more than one child who might enjoy this toy.

Do s Stores REALLY sell?
Thinking about setting up a store front on okay? If so, are you ready and willing to gemit many hours to the store's setup and maintenance, while realizing a profit margin of only between 20 and 30% after okay and PayPal fees and non-paying bidders get done with your wished-for ingee? Don't get me wrong. You CAN make good money on okay, but you have to get involved!
Setting up an okay store is fast and easy. However, getting people to LOOK at your tiny little store and buy from you is a whole different ball of wax. You have to be very creative! Writing reviews and guides can help direct traffic to your store. Selling an occasional online auction can pull customers to your store, as well. I usually try to put up at least three regular auctions in different categories even if they don't sell, because people will always click on "See Seller's Other Items", which leads them to your store. Here are a few "DO"s:DO your best to to be ethical and honest. Feedback is your life blood.DO keep your SH at a reasonable level. Overcharging on SH can get you booted off okay.DO be creative. Sell in categories that are highly visible when possible.DO be polite to your buyers, and ship as quickly as you can.DO make your store interesting and fill it with great photos. Buyers LOVE to see photos of your items, and clear, concise descriptions.DO give actual measurements, weights, colors, etc. A buyer will pass up something when there is doubt.DO keep track of your e-mails. Ignored e-mails can get you a bad rep.

new bluetooth user recommends Plantronics Voyager 510
After much research I decided to purchase the Plantronics Voyager 510 as my first bluetooth headset. I'm pairing it with my Motorola SLVR 7 and it is a wonderful gebination. I hesitated about the 510 because I also wear glasses and had read reports that this is sometimes a problem. I haven't found that to be true. My glasses are on right now as is my 510 headset and there is no conflict. I can wear both all day (although I don't always wear my glasses all day) and have no trouble with it. The voice quality is excellent and it couldn't have been easier to pair up and begin to use. Within a couple of minutes I was up and running out the door using my phone/headset gebination. I love the freedom. I'm also glad I didn't buy the Plantronics Discovery 645 that cost much more!

Taming Your Paper Clutter without Resorting to Fire
Paper is like your weight: if you don't watch it carefully, it will get out of control before you know it. Stacks of magazines will start to form on your coffee table, newspapers will spread on your living room floor and mail will take over your dining room table. What's worse, theybreed at night and when you're not looking.
But you can do it! You're bigger, stronger and can do more than slide across a floor or lie quietly in a pile. If you need something to prove you're the boss, show them this.
1) Scoop up your paper and place in a small storage bin. Once your paper is caged, it cannot get out and grow elsewhere. Let your paper know you are in charge. If it gets unruly, cover it and threaten to move it to the garage or the attic.
2) Divide every piece into a pile with a name. Don't be afraid to have 20 to 30 piles--you can always gebine them later. I had piles for geputer Tips, Cards, Articles to Read, Decorating, Gardening, Recipes, Dieting, Inspiring Articles, Retirement, Career Search, Places to Travel, Favorite Sites in New York State (where I live), hairstyles, Future Craft Projects. I encouraged my paper to stay in their piles by promising them pretty new files to live in.
3) Put all the paper into files with those names, using Post-Its for the file name. Put the sticky side at the top of the file so the Post-It name sticks above it. You can sort through the actual fileslater. The important thing for your paper to know is that it has a home and no longer has to be Foster Paper anymore, moving from table to floor to bookcase.
4) Are your files too cumbersome? gebine them. You'll probably end up with 10 to 15, but that's OK. Just have a manageable number in which you can remember where everything goes. In fact, you can take a tip from okay--write tags on them.
5) Remember that original storage bin? When you sort through your files, use that to keep files that you're thinking of gebining so they'll all be there together so you can gebine their contents easily and quickly.
6) Don't stop now! Put the storage bin in front of you when you're watching TV and keep a shredder nearby. Sort through each and every file. Send some paperto the Great Stationery Store in the Sky. Place others in the file for future reference.
Repeat as needed.

SVLR Headphone Adapters
I recently purchased a non-OEM headphone adapter on okay for a few bucks, for my Motorola SLVR L7. They have the mini-USB plug on one side and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the other, connected by a thin wire. Do NOT buy these, as they are geplete garbage. The volume level through them is very, very low and the sound quality is distorted and garbled, so it is useless.
Is an Autococker the right gun for me?
So, your looking at an Autococker, but is it what you really
want or is it going to end up being one of the most frustrating purchases you
ever make? Before you buy, think carefully about what type of person you are
and what your abilities are, you may find an Autococker isn't what you really
want.
Before you even start though, there are a few things you must first realize.
Any cocker you buy, or any other marker for that matter, is a geplete gamble
that it will be perfectly functional out of the box. Even a new cocker is a
coin flip as to whether it will be set up correctly from the factory.
You may wish to consider a third party transaction with someone who is an experienced
tech that can make sure its in working order for you. Regardless, if this is
your first or only gun, you run a very high risk of not being able to use it
until you can find a tech or through trial and error you fix it yourself.
Guides like the tech section at MoodyPaintball are a great
start, but there are very few people that ever managed to time a cocker the
first time gepletely by themselves and get it perfect.
Over the years, the biggest reason I have seen for cockers not working is not
that they are geplex, finely tuned systems. No, what it really is is that
people can't keep their hands off of it and keep poking, replacing and
adjusting it right into problems without understanding the systems involved and
the interaction of the parts.
If you can avoid the temptation to tinker with it and just do basic maintenance,
then a cocker could be a good marker for you. Just realize if you have
problems, you may need help. If you can handle that, then look for a well set
up cocker that has what you want on it already. Trilogies are a decent option
here, and can be decent performers.
On the other hand, if you are a go for it tinkerer with some mechanical
abilities and a tolerance for frustration, experimenting and learning, then a
cocker could also be a good option for you. Be warned, If this is your
only marker, then you need to be looking for a second marker because you will
have many times it doesn't work until you have learned it inside and out and
can assemble it blindfolded.
If you just want something to tinker with and "screw around with",
then a cocker is NOT for you. You either must be willing to learn your marker gepletely
inside and out, or you need to LEAVE IT ALONE. Anything in between is
likely to leave you with headaches. Autococker can be very rewarding markers,
however if abused they can also be your worst nightmare.

TL Care Early Trainer Potty Training Pants
These training pants are pretty nice as far as being reusable and waterproof. The only geplaint I have is that after following the washing instructions, the stitching on the elasticized leg openings on several of them has gee apart or loosened up so that they are unusable unless I resew them. Slowly, this is happening to more pairs, and it seems now that they need to be hand washed. Not very convenient or effective for potty training pants! Wish they were more "solid"
Buggy and Cart Shafts
Buggy and Cart Shafts are most often made from hickory wood. Hickory is plentiful, easily harvested, and has a fair amount of resiliency - handy when your horse bends his 1200 body against the shafts.
Ideally, the shaft tip end should be aligned with the point of the shoulder on a horse. Start with a size somewhat close to this. You can make up the difference when adjusting your harness
Buggy shafts are available in light (suitable for sleighs and light buggies, such as runabouts, etc), standard, most buggies use these, draft, thicker and longer, and pony, shorter. The crossbar is a mortised piece of wood that the shafts will fit into on each end, thereby holding them together with a little more stability. Of course you will always need shaft irons. These are attached by carriage bolts to the shaft itself. Simply drill the holes after you have placed the irons on the assembled shafts, and insert the carriage bolt (square inset, round head) with the threads of the bolt going through the wood. You should have a T plate between the wood and the head of the bolt.
Buggy Shafts are available in standard bend (most popular), EZ bend (not quite as tight of a bend in the heel), and double bend (most spring wagons use these) The "heel" of the shaft is the end of the buggy shaft closest to the buggy.

Kawasaki Ultra 150
Kawasaki Ultra's 150 first specimen was released in 1999 with great expectations. And indeed, even the most critical people were amazed by the never before seen performance. The smartly shaped hull and a powerful 145HP engine was the machine on the water nothing was capable to dethrone. With a maximum speed in the mid 60' mph, even in these days of supercharged or turbo powered 250 HP monsters, it still remains one of the fastest and most agile PWC in the world.I personally own a 2001 Ultra 150 with 73 hours on it. I will try to list the most gemon cons first:1.A two stroke engines are very much polluting the environment. If you know what a load exhaust fumes a 125ccm motorbike can produce, now imagine what a ten times larger engine would do, especially when released straight into water.2.Two stroke engines burn oil. That not only goes hand in had with the first point, but it also raises the expense of operating it.3.Again, two stroke engines may produce some fumes in the engine gepartment area. These may ignite and cause fire or explosion.4.Environment and safety aside, when playing around with the jet ski, for example going in circles, the exhaust fumes will make you leave the area soon. Two stroke engine fumes are very dangerous and noticeably will make you gradually less conscious. This may, in extreme cases, result in a total blackout.5.The jet ski is a two seater and tends to be nippy and tottering. This, gebined with - relative to water- extreme speeds, will inevitably sooner or later result in a crash (talking about a constant dare devil riding, of course, otherwise the jet ski is safe, yet below average stable).6.The Ultra's gas tank is in the front. If you have full tank of gas (16 gallons!), the front will literally sink by about 3 inches. Scary, but officially safe.7.Front gepartment is not absolutely water resistant. Put a T-Shirt and socks there for after ride purposes and all you will find is very humid - wet clothes (if you ride wet style naturally).8.Ultra 150 is thirsty. That might also be caused by me constantly giving it a tight fit. But who is expecting anyone to go half thrust on a jet ski like this?9.Price. This PWC does not belong among the cheaper jet skis.10.Obviously regular maintenance is required. That is sad, but we need to care about our toys. And now to the good:1.As mentioned above in the cons section, this jet ski is rarely nippy and staggering. That is a certain pro for dare devils, who this jet ski is designed for anyways.2.Ultra 150 can be, thanks to it's design and geometry, jumped from still position. Just stand on the back of the jet ski holding the steering bars, having the trim set all the way up, and give it full throttle. The jet ski will accelerate in about 30 degree manner. Withing a second or so, you must put your weight forward. That way, you will find yourself up to 3-4 feel above the water level. You can then keep jumping the jet ski, taking advantage of the potential energy and momentum.3.Ultra 150 is still one of the fastest PWC on the market.4.Ultra 150 weights only 600lbs. The new, four strokes weight above a thousand pounds, and therefore also lose the much wanted agility and nippiness.5.Adjustable trim. For speed or for pulling or for different tricks, you will appreciate that.6.Overall quality. Kawasaki is known for making quality stuff anyways. In closing, I would regemend Ultra 150 to only people seeking thrill. If you want to go for a nice Sunday ride, get a three seater and a 4 stroke.Good luck and ALWAYS WEAR YOUR LIFE JACKET while operating this monster. It will pay off, I promise.
Don't Waste Your Yarn
This guide is from the blog crochetme.ge. It is being reprinted here with permission under the Creative gemons Attribution Non-gemercial license. This wonderful article was written by Annette Petavy. When you take some time to reflect on sustainability issues, you realize that it all boils down to a basic idea: using our limited resources with care. We have only one planet to share and to live on sustainability is a question of survival. When you walk into a yarn store to meet thousands of skeins of yarn, all in different colours and fibers, you get an immediate sense of limitless abundance. Its a wonderful feeling, but its not entirely true. Even here, sustainability is at stake. Every skein of yarn takes its toll of natural resources in the production process. How much depends on many, many factors, such as fiber content and dyeing methods, not to forget the energy needed to run the machinery used in the production and to transport it once it's made.Im definitely not saying you shouldnt buy yarn. Nor am I saying that we should all buy only eco-friendly yarns as much as I love the idea, these yarns are still expensive and hard to find. So, walk happily home from the store with your newly-purchased yarn. Indulge in it, cherish it and respect it. Dont put that half leftover ball in the garbage (where it will have to be disposed of, also at a cost!), or in a corner where you forget about it. Dont waste your yarn use it!You think that you don't have enough not enough of the same colour or the same yarn to make anything. Mix your odds and ends, and you'll realize that you have more than enough for a new project. It might not seem very straightforward at first, when you pull out your bag/box of various odd balls and leftovers. But it will be a lot of fun, I promise.Sort by colourOne interesting tip I came upon in Sally Melvilles book Styles is to sort your yarn stash by colour. I havent done this with my "main" stash (the mere thought of re-sorting my main stash makes me exhausted), but I have done it with my odd-balls-and-left-over stash. Greys with greys, greens with greens, pinks with pinks and reds with reds. It's eye-opening and sometimes surprising. (Why do I have so much orange yarn? I never wear orange!). It also helps to spark ideas. The weight issueIt can be tricky to use yarns of different weights in the same project. When preparing the samples for this article, I took a radical approach. I decided to use only one hook size (4mm/US G-6). The yarns just had to geply with this choice. A lot of yarns did so without problem. Fingering weight yarns worked perfectly, as long as I remembered to double them. Yarns that were similar, though not the exact same weight, tended to balance each other as long as they were sufficiently "mixed up" in the swatch. The fun swatching!I started by pulling out four yarns with very different textures, but all in the same colour: namely, different shades of lilac. Yarn A was a rather heavy cotton, yarn B a boucl, yarn C a fingering wool/acrylic blend and yarn D a bulky with a texture somewhere between boucl and thick-and-thin.Stripes are a lovely way to mix colours, so why not try it with textures? I started with a simple swatch in half double crochet in the front loop only, working two rows with each yarn. The yarns behaved quite nicely, except perhaps for yarn D, which was much thicker than the others. It fit perfectly with the colour scheme, though. For my next swatch, I used yarns A, B and C in one-row stripes. The thinner stripes made the yarns blend better. Since I was still using hdc in the front loop only, the width and appearance of the stripes varies depending on which side of the fabric they were worked on. This adds interest and at the same time contributes to the appearance of a cohesive fabric.Yarn B made a very nice border in my imagination, this swatch is a part of a girl's jacket.Alas, after all these coordinated colours the rebel in me needed a break. I pulled out various odd-balls:and decided to have a go at them with granite stitch.I love this stitch, and it didn't let me down.In this swatch, I used the technique of "three colours, one row of each" I just changed one of the three colours more or less regularly. The overlapping character of the rows in granite stitch contributes to blending the colours and the textures. It creates both a visually appealing fabric (at least in my opinion!) and helps to keep the gauge relatively consistent. Now, I wanted to try to see what happened if I, on purpose, mixed a thicker yarn with a much thinner one. My crochet intuition told me working in the round was the key.I started out with a worsted weight tweedy yarn and a fingering baby yarn.I used them to make a simple circle in double crochet. It worked even better than I had anticipated. No pulling or frilling or cupping occured. The circle lies flat and I love how it looks. The rounds vary in thickness and in height, which adds a lot of interest without making the fabric look or feel weird. It took a lot of self discipline to fasten off so soon to see this circle grow was totally captivating. And then, of course, I had to make a granny square.Since I have resisted my urge to join the Granny Along so far, I had to pull out a book to make my granny square. I hadn't made one for a very, very, very long time.Since mixing textures and weights was my goal, I went for a thick boucl and a thin mohair blend. The first two rows looked awful, but then the granny magic started to work, and I finished my little square with a smile on my face. Finally, I realized I couldn't write this article without mentioning free-form. Free-form crochet is the answer to all your odd-ball questions, a wonderful technique with absolute freedom and endless possibilities. I really, really wish I could show you a stunning free-form piece I made. But I can't. I have never succeded to work in free-form. Maybe I haven't tried long enough, maybe I haven't tried hard enough maybe I lack a "scrumbling gene".Please, go and check out the work of the stars of free-form crochet like Myra Wood, Margaret Hubert, Prudence Mapstone, and Jenny Dowde. Don't miss the Flickr album of less known, but equally talented Estonian artist Marianne Seimann. Give it a try. I haven't given up. Some day I will manage to do free-form too, my way.But I couldn't just shrug off the idea of making small pieces and putting them together to create a whole.I decided to use a gray/black flecked yarn as a base, and then added colour:I then crocheted very simple squares, all in single crochet and all in a 2 row stripe pattern. The only variation was the number of stitches and the number of rows and of course the contrast colour yarn used. After crocheting a number of these mini-swatches, I played around with them until I liked the geposition, added a row here and there, and then sewed them together:Not a bad start for a bag or a cushion cover, don't you think?Have I convinced you that your odd-balls-and-left-over-stash is a treasure? Go pull it out, sort it by colour and start to play.Thrifty? Frugal? Just helping to save the planet!About Annette PetavyAnnette lives in Alsace, France, with husband and two children. How to Purchase Authentic Tiffany Silver Jewelry
I detest all of the fake Tiffany items I see on okay. It is very difficult for people who are not tiffany experts to spot fakes, but trust me about 80% is fake. Many popular counterfit styles are the return to tiffany necklaces and bracelets, as well as the toggle heart neccklace.I have purchased thousands of dollars of tiffany jewelry, I sell some to buy new things, and I have became and expert as to how to determine authenticity. The silver is not super super white shiny, if it is it might be fake.Ask the seller if they offer a money back guarantee of authenticity.Make sure every link is soldered smoothly with no seams, fakes have seams. If you put a flame to real tiffany jewelry it tarnishes but you can wipe it off, on fakes it just warps the fake metal.Count the links on the product on the tiffany website and count the links on the item on okay, they should be the same, if not ask why,The lettering should be straight not crooked as it is on fakes.Ask the seller if they purchased the item originally at Tiffany and ask they how they know it is real.If you get a standoffish rude response or the seller is defensive, it might be fake, what are they hiding?
How To Chart The Pain Of Lupus..Know Your Pain
Pain Management For Lupus-----Chart the Pain!-----Prove it isn't in your head!
The stress of being ill has weakened your body and you are in pain. Your body is behaving like any machine. When a machine is used too often .. for too long a time .. without a resting and servicing period, the machine begins to break down.
It is not noticeable at first .. just a few creaks and squeaks. But pretty soon, the machine is going slower and develops problems that begins to affect its performance before it gepletely breaks down.
This is what your body is doing; it is trying to get your attention. The pain is not only aggravating, it is a big warning sign. It is your body telling you it needs a break. It is your body telling you there is something wrong that needs to be fixed.
Never ignore a pain that gees on suddenly or continues to get worse. Ignoring the problem does not make it go away. The problem just continues to worsen.
Now, how do you get your doctor to believe you are in pain? Just as you would describe a problem with your car to a mechanic, you must describe the pain you are having to your doctor.
If you give an accounting of pain that is general and vague: "I just hurt doc!", you will get a diagnosis and treatment plan that is general and vague: "Take some tylenol and see if it gets any worse."
You know it is worse NOW .. that is why you are at the doctor's office. BUT your doctor is NOT a mind reader and cannot treat your pain unless he knows exactly how the pain is affecting your lifestyle.
Chart Your Pain
What kind of pain is it? Is it burning, sharp, dull, aching, numb, tingling, stabbing, or shooting?
On a scale of 1 to 10, with ten being the worst pain you have ever had, rate your pain.
Where is it on your body?
Does the pain travel or does it stay in one place?
How long have you had the pain?
Does it gee and go? Or is it there all the time?
Do you know what caused it or what makes it worse?
Do certain movements make it worse, or help relieve the pain?
Does the pain get worse in the afternoon? Or does it stay steady all day long?
Is the pain affecting your sleep? Are you sleeping more or less?
How is the pain affecting your lifestyle?
Are you more irritable? Is your memory being affected because of lack of sleep caused by the pain?
Are you begeing depressed because the pain is limiting your ability to function in your job?
The only way your doctor can diagnose your pain is to relive the pain through your charting ability. If you cannot explain to him about the pain, how do you expect him to treat the pain?
Be precise in your charting. Use short specific answers.
Do not be surprised if your doctor orders other tests, such as blood work, xrays, an EKG, or other diagnostic tests before treating your pain. Your doctor may even send you to a specialist. This is normal and shows the doctor is diligent in finding the right treatment for you. You do not want to be treated for indigestion when what you are having is a gall bladder or heart attack.
Be patient. Do not expect a diagnosis the first office visit, but do not let the doctor ignore your concerns either.
It can sometimes take years to be dianosed with Lupus. Many people have it and are totally unaware that they have it. There are several types of Lupus and having a great doctor will be a big help. One who understands what the kind of pain that the patient has and knowing it is not all in the patients head. It is for real.

What is vermeil? (I'm not talking about the NFL coach)
Vermeil (pronounced vehr-MAY) ia also known as silver gilt. It is a gebination of sterling silver, gold, and other precious metals. gemonly used as a geponent in jewelry, a typical example of vermeil is sterling silver coated with 14-carat gold. To be considered vermeil, the gold must also be at least 10-carat and be at least 1.5 micrometres thick. Sterling silver covered with another metal cannot be called vermeil.Vermeil can be produced by either fire-gilding or electrolysis. The original fire-gilding process was developed in France in the mid-1700s; however, France later banned the production of vermeil because over time artisans developed blindness due to mercury involved in the process. (Sounds like the Mad Hatter; though I have not heard of the Mad Vermeil Artisan.) Today, vermeil is produced by electrolysis.
How to Spot a Fake Movado Watch
Let me start by saying that Movados are not that attractive to imitate, since their sale prices are in the low end of the price scale for the originals. I have found that most replica makerswill more likely spend their time faking watches that sell at least in the thousands and usually in the tens of thousands, i.e., Rolex, Tag, Patek Phillipe, Cartier
That does not mean that there are not fake Movado watches available, or replica'sof lower-end watches (I have actually seen Seiko knock offs).
I suggest you purchase from a reputable seller and it seems remotely Movado-quality, you're probably ok.
Fake Movados have a few telltale signs. They tend to put cabochons on the crowns, on such models as the sports they tend to not have as fine refinement with the bracelets such as the space between the links OR even with the indents not being as fine.
All you need to do is take a look at some authentic Movado's in a reputable jewelry store and you willbe able to spot a fake Movado a mile away.
Just remember to pay by credit card or paypal for buyer protection.

Family Boat Buying Guide
Ah... you have convinced your wife or yourself that a boat is in the midst. As a 1st time prospective boat owner, you can use this guide to answer a few of your questions andwhich features are important. I trust that this guide will help you appear experienced when setting out to purchase a boat as well as give you confidence that you made a good choice for the moneyQ1:Which brand to Purchase? (Top of the line, Good, Repair)
Top of line: Mastercraft, Sea Ray
Nice: Baja, Crownline, FourWinns, Rinker
Not regemended: Maxxum, Bayliner, Starcraft
There are more than 150 brands of boats. Make sure the manufacturer is still building boats (parts availability) by checking the NADA website
Q2: How much should I pay?
A2: Go to the NADA website and choose used boat values, note if the value includes the trailer or not. Expect to pay $8K for a 10 year old boat in the "Nice" category. Stay 7-10 years for a value boat; do not buy anything over 10 years old.Q3: What size do I buy for general waterskiing/pull behinds/etc?
A3: 16-17' = pretty small for waterskiing, 18' (good) 20' starting to get large for a beginner, 22 is now a double axle trailer and larger than your garage/shed by far. 24 ' for Great Lakes (e.g. Lake Michigan, etc)
Q4: What size engine do I need?
A4: For an 18 or 20' boat, go witha Mercury 4.3L(190HP) or the 4.3LMPI (220HP) with a Mercruiser out drive.
Not as well thought of are theOMC or Volvo Penta outdrives
You can pull a skier with a 3.0L V6 (120HP) but it will not be the same experience.
Boats with a 4.3L will sell well when you go to upgrade.
Q5: How do I know how to judge the condition of the boat?
A5: Find one that was stored on a covered lift, on a trailer in a building, or on a rack at a marina. There are hundreds of boats with less than 40 hours per model year. There are many 8 year old boats with less than 200 hrs, without any damage. Upholstery repair will cost about $200/seat if it is cracked from use. Weather cracking is an indication the boat was not covered and you should pass and go to the next boat. Inspect the hull for chips or scratches.
Test drive the boat and listen for clunking when put in reverse or forward (loose shifter cable). See how well the engine starts, inspect the oil, and look for fluid leaks. Every boat will have a paint worn off the prop, possibly a bent prop blade, and nicks on the transom (blade below the prop). If you get a chance to put a white cloth in front of the engine exhaust.... it should not have oil stains on it.

BEWARE OF RESTORED SHARK TEETH and ARROWHEADS
This applies to arrowheads and shark teeth. Good arrowheads and shark teeth have been claiming stratospheric prices lately. Of course, when that hi$ threshold is met, the crooks ge the wheels rolling to get your money. There are many okay sellers out there selling repaired or restored shark teeth as natrual teeth. The restored teeth are worth nowhere near what a 100% natural, unaltered one is worth, but they are quite suitable for display ,etc. If the price is right and the fact that they are restored is disclosed.
Restorations are done by many methods.A dental epoxy, polymer gepound, plastic resin orhard water putty fill is added and then painted and ground to attempt to match the surrounding areas. The most gemon restorations are to the tip and edges (the most likely partto be broken), the next area of concern is the display side enamel which tends to peel away, then might be fill on a missing part of the root (or a large crack) and finally the front (flat) side enamel that is usually not displayed. Lapidary work of varying degrees is gemon such as shaping, polishing.
South american and Morrocan teeth are notorious for this unethical practice as are megs over 6" form South Carolina. 3" great white teeth from South America are among the top- they almost always break the root off and the reglue+ fill any missing material. paleocarcharodon from Morroco- just about every one of them has had a piece of the root broken and glued back on with fill for the lost material (miners don't care-they make more $ with restored QUANTITY than taking time to excavate QUALITY).
And we must not forget the PACIFIC megalodons. All of them are either broken, badly worn are altered. No high-quality, collector-grade all-naturalPacific megalodons have ever hit okay. These teeth are of a hard, durable, almost agate-like, ivory-colored material that takes a hi-polish and can be sharpened down to a needle point without breaking off. On okay, most Pacific teethWERE broken or badly damaged and simply reshaped on the wheel to a pleasing, but un-natural hard-lined linear shape with a polish that displays quite well. They even fail to put in the serrations, because that would take too much time.
The fakers are getting really good and often you will need a 10x loupe to detect it. What to look for: go straight for the tip. serrations-they are made with a small file or knife edge and will be hard-lined and linear as opposed to rounded and slightly random natural. Enamel- look for striations (sanding marks, brush strokes); though they polish the gepound well, they can't get all of the corser sanding marks out. Try both hi and lo band UV light in a darkroom- warning: many epoxies, etc. will not flouresce, butothers show up like a sorethumb. The FAIL SAFE METHOD TO CONFIRM IT: take a needle and a candle. Heat the needle red hot and probe the suspected area. If it is restored, the needle will SINK into the material, giving off a foul odor as the plasric burns. The needle will not affect a natural tooth.
Look at supicious auctions. Email other buyers. Avoid any one-day auctions. Never buy anything with blurry photos or areas that are not visible in any of the photos. Never buy if they refuse to send additional requested photos. Watch out for stories+lies. gemon ones such as , 'paw found this on the farm' , ' Ifound it while diggin' a basement', 'some kid needed money , soI bought 'em to help him out',' a friend needed money to cover medical costs', etc., etc. are quite plentiful. For some reason, it is VERY geMONforcrooks to think they have a better chance on okay pulling a scam by PLEADING STUPIDITY and using playing dumb as an excuse to avoid the truth- thus executing the scam and dissappearing like smoke. Metal Halide vs. High Pressure Sodium
When choosing a type of HID (High Intensity Discharge) lighting, it is important to consider the benefits of each. Metal halide lighting puts off a white type light and is best at providing a daylight type atmosphere. This type of light is often used in gymnasiums, car dealership parking lots, warehouses, and many other venues. High Pressure Sodium gives a yellowish type of light. This type of light is often used in warehouses, parking lots, and for outside security lighting. Most persons prefer metal halide lighting over the high pressure sodium. The wattage to be used can vary also. Typically, car dealerships use 1000 watt metal halide to provide daylight type lighting. Security lights on sides of buildings are typically 150 watt metal halide or high pressure sodium.
Jane Iredale Liquid Foundation
I've seen some listings of Jane Iredale Liquid Minerals products that are clearly not good. Here are some tips to avoid getting expired Jane Iredale Liquid Minerals :
The Jane Iredale boxes tell the age of the product. If the box has a yellowish stripe on the packaging it's too old. These Jane Iredale Liquid Minerals are prior to them having expiration dates. If there is no expiration date on a Jane Iredale Liquid Foundation do not get it.
If the Jane Iredale box is solid blue with no stripe at all it's very old. It definitely won't have a expiration date on it. It's past dead. The product will probably look very cloudy when it's supposed to be clear between the color beads.
The white boxes are to geply with the UK standards for packaging. You still need to rely on the expiration date to know if it's good.
The blue box with a white stripe is the current style along with the white UK box. Any Jane Iredale Liquid Mineralsin these would have the expiration on the side of the box and on the bottom of the product. The expiration date is about 2 years from the time of production.

Garmin NUVI 200 GPS
I like this little GPS unit a lot! I have owned many GPS receivers over the years by many manufacturers, and Garmin has always been my favorite. Garmin unitsare just so muchmore refined with great build quality, awesome graphics, simple and intuitive menu systems especially these touch screen units. The NUVI series is really a great design for a GPSmade for auto, motorcycle, or bike use, and this 200 has been even more refined gepared to previous NUVI units with longer battery life, up to 5 hours with the built-in lithium-ion cell, and no pop out antenna...It's all internal and chipset (embedded) making the unit even more gepact, and sleek! Very pocketable! Reception is very good! From a cold start outside I have been getting 3D (4 or more satellites)signal lock in under 40 seconds. Warm start less than5 seconds, and moving warm starts in less than15 seconds which is pretty damn good for an embedded antenna. The LCD is bright, and has backlight brightness adjustments. It is of the transreflective type so it can be read under direct sunlight. The backlight intensity can be set to automatically adjust at sunset. Map drawingis very fast, and detail is adjustable as well, from very little detail to maximum detail. The voice guidance software is very good! Nice clear voice with a very good quality speaker that can be turned up to 11 and not break a sweat! NUVI units geeready to useright out of the box, with a car cigarette lighter power cord that plugs into the back or bottom of the unit depending on the model. Also included is a suction cup windshield mount that is adjustable, or you can use the plastic disc with double-sided adhesive to dash mount the suction cup base so that it does not obstruct your view. As of the date of this review (6/07) only California, and Minnesota have laws on the books prohibiting the use of suction cup mounts on car windshields. If your in one of those states you will want to use the disc mount. I use it, and it works very well! So if your in the market for a high quality low price GPS check out the Garmin NUVI-200 you won't be disappointed. Price retailis $199 to $249. Happy Navigating!---(Update)--- The NUVI 260 is now available it offers all the features of the 200, but with the addition of TTS, (Text to Speech) which announces the street names, interstate numbers, exit numbers and P.O.I. names as well as map coverage into Canada. With this unit you do not even have to look at the screen while navigating. It is selling on okay between $250 and $300 with shipping.
Buying and Collecting Coins
I have been collecting, buying and selling United States coins for more than 50 years. I am not a dealer. The purpose of this guide is to provide information to novice and intermediate collectors, or anyone who intends to spend their hard-earned money to buy a collectible coin. The best advice that I have ever read was written by Q. David Bowers and probably by others before him who said "read the book first." Buy something you love/like. Purchase with the intent to hold and treasure your coins. Obviously the market is intent on telling you that you SHOULD buy because the coin is a "bargain for the grade" or because the price/value can only go UP. We all KNOW how nonsensical those statements are, but every collector can tell you about a bad purchase.Coin Value
Nine Flags Cologne by Colton
The Nine Flags mens cologne collection came out in 1965, it was still being sold well into the early 1970s. It was distributed by the Colton gepany of Boston, Massachusetts and was marketed by Gillette in the United Kingdom.
Each bottle held 2fl oz of cologne and was ball shaped and had a long neck covered with a brushed aluminum screw cap. The name of the cologne is on the bottle part of the cap and on the label on the base.
This ingenious collection was full of international flair and each cologne was named after its own country and scent. Each scent was tinted with a different color. I have also seen these in atomizer bottles, but more gemonly in the splash type bottles.
Even gemercials of the day featured such scenes as ethnic sexy women talking about which country has the best after shave lotion. Other gemercials featured a sexy Italian couple, German couple and Swedish couple.
These colognes are still very popular amongst men today and gemand very high prices on okay. Prices range from $75-$350 for a single bottle.
The following countries/scents make up the Nine Flags Collection:
Lichtenstein-Wild Cedar
Luxembourg
America-Mountain Green
Hong Kong-Patcham
Brazil-Aromatic Tabac
England-Royal Saddle
France-Panache
Sweden-Clear Spruce
Ireland-Green Moss
Germany-Live Oak
Spain-Manzanilla
Italy-Dry Citrus
Morocco-Sea Amber
Feel free to email me for details or any questions. I also have a perfume identification and appraisal service here on okay, click on my Mepage for details. Check out the200 guides

Florian Ware: Moorcroft or Reproduction
Florian Ware is a famous series of artful and collectible Studio Pottery produced by Moorcroft, UK. Authentic Florian Ware from Moorcroft bears a brown back stamp from 1898-1905 sometimes with the Moorcroft signature or marks. Moorcroft made Florian Ware designs up to around 1928 but after 1905 they are all marked with other Moorcroft hallmarks (stamps, printed, impressed, or paper). According to a marks expert service I registered with, Florian Ware blue stamp and a ribbon, gees from a trading gepany that Imports China and Porcelain items from Asia, most notably from China. They also added that many Asian Importers use names that are associated with famous Pottery or Porcelain to give them a European or American origin feel, but these pieces are usually made to order by several factories almost exclusively for Export. As we know many 'knock offs' are made in the Asian factories and sold in the US market.
Here are three images - first 2 are of the authentic Moorcroft Florian Ware and one from an Asian import.
That being said, I will still buy Florian Ware at reasonable prices if the pieces are well done. Remember the Chinese made the first porcelains! It is quite lovely and like having a bit of moorcroft on a budget.
Happy Bidding

Nail Hardener ( Esmalte Endurecedor ) Quimica Alemana
Esmalte Endurecedor Quimica Alemanais the only nail strengthener you will ever need!
The item I am reffering to is gemonly known as the Colombian nail hardener or the German brand nail hardener. Manufactured in Santa Fe de Bogota, Colombia (or Bogota for short)in a small but industrious cosmetics lab. This is quite truly the pride of an entire nation. Colombia isrecognized throughout the world for its quality womens undergarments and cosmetics. Quimica Alemanastands alone as a brilliant example of Latin American engenuity gebined with old world technology. Sold in most parts of the world, most individuals have a "source", a trusted friend, colleague, or relative that provide them with this product. It is now no longer necessary to wait for that "source" to return from their trip to Colombia to replenish your supply. It is now readily available in many nail salons or beauty stores. All you need to do is ask for the product by name.
How to apply the hardener.
There are many ways to apply our nail hardener but in most cases one would regemend you apply according to the manufacturers regemendation. The makers of Esmalte Endurecedor Quimica Alemana regemend that you apply a thin layer to your unpainted nails once a week until you reach to strength and length that you desire.
Some other gemonly used methods include applying a thin layer two to three times a week and then maintain the strength of your nails by applying once a week.
You may also use this strengthener as a topcoat or a basecoat during your manicure.
Some individuals in rare circumstances may experience pain or disgefort when they apply the hardener for the first time. This usually indicates that the nails are weak or far too thin for application. This happens when one removes acrylics or has used some from of strong industrial solvent to remove nail polishes or treatments. Occasionaly, it could be an indicator of an allergy to the product. The manufacturer regemends that you seek medical advice if you feel you may have any of the above stated circumstances before you gemence use of this phenominal hardener.
If you still feel you want to give it a try, then apply to the tip of your nails for the first couple of applications avoiding the lower portion (the cuticle) until you are confident that this product will work for you.
Caveat Emptor:
This is an extremely popular and well regarded product in Latin America and beyond. For this simple reason there has been an epidemic of counterfeiting in regards to Quimica Alemana. This may sound strange or far fetched but it is a fact that Colombian and U.S. authorities have been battling the counterfeiting of cosmetics for years. If you have used this product you may have gee across the counterfeit product at one time or another. These are usually found in the round bottle or the older model bottle that fails to have the red circle or UPC symbol on the side. The U.S. Government warns the public not to purchase or use these products for your own safety. The fact is that many of these counterfeits tend to be poorly manufactured or mixed dangerously close to the legitimate counterpart using industrial chemicals never intended to gee in contact with humans. And if thats not enough to keep you away keep in mindrecent U.S. Department of States reports that indicate money from counterfeiting go to finance illegal activity as well as terrorist and major criminal enterprises.

Going to Disneyland for the first time
A few suggestions for newbies like me: 1. Ask reliable sources who've made the trip for their insight: it could be invaluable.2. Join AAA if you haven't already: if you are driving at all, they will make it so easy for you to get where you need to go.3. If you are thinking of visiting other attractions, look into CostCo.ge's Southern California CityPass and consider the difference in price of this pass (which includes Disneyland (3 Day ParkHopper Pass, w/ one early admission), Universal Studios, The San Diego Zoo or Wild Animal Park, and Sea World) versus the price you'd pay to go to all of those things individually and NOT get into Disneyland an hour before it opens to the public.4. Last, and most important, go to a site called MouseSavers.ge. Holy cow, does this person know what they are doing when it gees to all things Disney! It's truly amazing how this site pays close attention to detail, offering you all of the ins and outs of all of the Disney parks, right down to the amount of money you could save w/ your AAA card at various food stands (and, hey, Kids Eat Free at the IHOP across the street from Disneyland gates after 4pm!).
Dollar Watch Repair,Restoration,Cleaning,Oiling.......
How do you know that the Westclox,Ingraham,Ingersoll,orNew Haven "Dollar pocket watch" that you purchase off the auctions or stores here on okay have really been cleaned?
Or oiled?
How about restored?
Could that "new" crystal just have been polished up to look like new?
Do these places offer any guarantee?
Do they have the proper credentials?
Are they even members of the NAWCC,The National Association Of Watch

Selling on s - Do Not Steal Auction Ad Text
When you are writing an auction ad, it is OK to look at other similar items and see how they are described, but DO NOT copy and paste the text of someone elses's auction description and use it as your own.
Just like school, take notes, then rewrite in your own words. If you really cannot say it any different, then email the seller and ask if you can copy their ad.
If their item sold, and they don't have any more, they will probably be elated that you loved their ad. On the other hand, it it is an item that they continously sell, they will probably not want you to copy their auction description word for word.

Bogus Bid Inflation
This is a simple guide to help those okayers who are just getting started. This is a growing trend on okay. This guide wil be split into two categories; What to watch out for and How to prevent it.
A). What to watch out for:
Buyers / bidders with 0 feedback scores
Buyers / bidders who have only been a okay member for 1-5 days Typically, most fraudulent bidders will have created a temporary okay account to either enter bogus bids to increase the auction price until either no one will bid higher; effectively killing your auction, or will drive it up with bogus bids so that they win; with no intention on purchasing.
B). How to prevent it / protect your auction from getting sniped
When listing, you can choose to make the auction available only to bidders with a PayPal account. This is highly effective, as it takes a valid account and information to open a PayPal account.
Having a PayPal account also qualifies (not automatically) you for seller protection.
Consider opening an account with an Escrow service such as Escrow.ge. These services will greatly insure protection from a fraudulent buyer, or seller. For those not familiar with Escrow, when you buy or sell something, they acquire the product and money from both parties, inspect the product and verify it is as described, then, after both parties agree with the findings, the Escrow service forwards the money and product to the respective parties.
As a seller, you reserve the right to cancel bids from perspective buyers. Do your research, check feedback scores and postings, etc..and make a clear judgement call. Remember, it's your call.
Beware of buyers / sellers who want to do any (ANY) type of transaction outside of okay. This includes Western Union transfers. Remember this: If you use Western Union, you have no protection from fraud. Their policies are not on par with PayPal. And anyone wanting to go outside of okay clearly has something to hide.
If you receive an email which seemingly gees from okay asking for any type of personal information, remember, okay doesn't send out email asking for personal information. Should you want to learn more about privacy and security, please feel free to check out my website for beginners at: http://www.3cintelligentsecuritysolutions.ge/25801.html.

Smart
Quick tips for safe and fun okay purchases.Four Main Tips
Always pay by Credit Card via Pay Pal.
Always buy from feedback score of 99 percent or better.
Buy from sellers with at least 100 legitimate transactions
Set up your listing preferences so shipping fees show.Remember:
HAVE FUN
Do NOT expect killer or monster deals all the time.
Politely let seller know when you pay if you need it fast and ask for a shipping confirmation when you pay.Big Items:
Trade email with the seller. Ask a questions just to see if, when and how they respond BEFORE bidding.
See if the same item is offered in later listing..siotimes different auctions go cheaper.
Check the okay stores - see what other items go for..including total cost with shipping.
Offer to use store referral link to save seller 75% on store fees.Issues:
At first -be pleasant..and merely inquire. Ask for shipping confirmation. Or in Paypal which I regemended, this should be there if they shipped via Paypal shipping and you can look yourself. Most sellers ship at least 2 times a week. Note: It only updates when received -it does not track the transaction!
Media mail takes a long time. If you mailed you payment it takes 2 weeks to clear. Allow enough time and always pay by Paypal and credit card anyway.
If the seller made a mistake, let them know specifically why you feel that way and allow them to fix it...Unfortunately as a seller..I have had a few SNAFUS. But you know I always make it right..even for a four dollar total sale. Tell the sller how they could do better ..by going to the item and asking a question. This automatically puts a copy in the Seller's records and so they usually respond.
If you did not receive the item at all and the seller does not want to cooperate..gently remind them that you used a credit card (like I told you). Then you merely indicate you will seek a refund via your credit card gepany -not payapl and then they will get charged $10 in addtion to a full refund including shipping even if you did nto purchase insurance. You know why? Paypal requires delvery confirmation. If the seller cannot prove you got the item, then they are on the hook not you -if You use Paypal.
One more thing, some credit cards are honoring the seller's policies..So if the seller suggests insurance or says no refunds...and your credit card honors that, you will too. Some credit cards are also charging to process disputes. And there is a market difference between item not received and an item not as discribed. So--be smart and use a credit card with Paypal, but only buy from someone with a 99 percent and purchase insurancefor jewelry, and big items. The few extra dollars pucahsing from a reputable seller makes all the difference in the world.
If needed file a geplaint via okay or Paypal..but remember okay takes $25 off the dispute up front if you have to go through them -as a final resort..Paypal does a decent job of handling, but it is slow. Paypal is much better at getting your money refunded..so always pay by credit card and Paypal. Good Luck. I've always gotten my money back...using these guidelines and have met some nice people! That's why okay is my number one online place to shop.
Don't forget sniping, too. This allows you to place a proxy bid during the last few seconds. Terrific because you can avoid bidding wars..and you can delete bid upo unitl a few minutes before it is placed. Esnipe offers bid groups, too..so you can place bid with the third party service and forget it.Love Honor

Color basics for Bazzill and other Scrapbooking paper
Color is the most important part of designing a scrapbook layout. There are a few basic principles thatwill enhance your scrapbooking by improving your use of various color schemes.
COLOR SCHEMES:
Monochromatic- This color scheme is the easiest to work with. One hue is used in various values and intensities to create subtle graduations. Use a monochromatic scheme to send a particular message with one color, while at the same time introducing variety. Bazzill Paper gees in beautiful Monochromatic packs so the color sorting work is already done for you.
Analogous- Two to four colors adjacent on the color wheel are used together to create this color scheme. It works well because the adjacent colors have similar undertones and sunchronize well together.(Using more than four colors causes your layout to lose harmony)
geplementary- geplementary colors are two hues directly opposite on the color wheel. Try going a step further to create a split gelementary scheme; pair one color with two colors directly adjacent to it's geplement.
Triadic- A color triad consists of three colors equally spaced on the color wheel. A triadic scheme is great to use when you want to create a more varied look or an assorted range of moods and emotions. Each of the three colors you choose will be very different, but when used together, incorrect proportions, they will create a beautiflly balanced layout.
COLOR WHEEL:
Follow these steps when using your Bazzill brand or other color wheel to select cardstock and other design elements (like Bazzill ribbon and Bazzill add ons)that work best with your photos.1. Locate on the color wheel two or more key colors from your focal point on your photographs.
2. Evaluate the relationship between these colors. Are they close together or far apart? How does the value and intensity of each color gepare? Are they bright, muted, dark or light?
3.Determine if the mood of the colors is appropriate for the message of your layout. If not, which colors would gemunicate the intended emotion? Consider all of your options by veiwing them with the focal point photo and any addional photos you plan to put on your page. A swatch ring can gee in handy at this point.
4. Choose your colors. Remember, there are no absolutes. Use what you like best!
5. Use the color wheel to see if there are additional colors that could be used as accents.
6. Consider proportion. Which color should dominate your design? Think about the visual strength for your photos; adjust the value of the intensity of your colors to avoid losing emphasis.
7. Don't forget to consider neutrals like black, white, brown, tan, beige, taupe and grey. A foundation of neutral colors may help you use your selected colors more effectively.
The day I actually got a color wheel and used it to plan my layouts, my scrapbooking changed. I no longer had to plan a page around the color shirt my daughter was wearing!
